SETTING SAIL

In 1994, The Organization of Black Maritime Graduates (OBMG) was founded by six graduates of SUNY Maritime College who understood a simple but powerful truth: access changes trajectories.

What began as a shared commitment among alumni has grown into a lasting institution; one rooted in scholarship, mentorship, and the quiet, consistent work of building futures.

Today, OBMG stands as both steward and catalyst supporting the next generation of maritime professionals as they step forward into an industry that demands excellence, resilience, and vision.

CONTINUED GROWTH

The scholarships awarded increases every year. We continue to attract professionals and corporations who support our efforts to propel the careers of underrepresented cadets and students interested in the engineering and maritime industry
